About

My name is Morgan Fisher. I was born in Washington, D.C. and I grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts. After stops in Kansas, New Orleans and L.A., I returned to D.C. to practice law. I’m licensed to practice law in California, DC and Maryland Federal Court (including, of course Maryland Bankruptcy Court). I am a founding partner in the law firm of Lawrence & Fisher PLLC.

My attitude toward bankruptcy is that consumers must approach and understand that this is an adversarial setting. You need a lawyer that cares about your case and cares about you as an individual. I don’t walk into 341 meetings wondering whether we got it right this time and hope to just slip through the cracks. The best bankruptcy lawyers know that notice, honesty and thoroughness lead to a discharge and it starts the day you walk into my office. I have three goals for my bankruptcy clients: First, I want to keep you in complete compliance with the law. Second, I want to maximize the assets you keep and maximize the debt you discharge. Third, I want to protect your rights as a consumer whether in State or Federal Court. If creditors break the law, I sue them on your behalf. You have to do this right and you have to fight back.

About this blog

This blog is intended to inform Maryland and D.C. individuals about bankruptcy, consumer rights and more generally, how to get your life back on track by filing for relief under Chapter 7, 11 or 13. I will discuss a broad range issues from Creditor abuse to Mortgage securitization. I plan on inviting guest writers, both locally and nationally to discuss bankruptcy and consumer rights.

Blog disclaimer:

This blog not intended to give legal advice and you should seek a lawyer if you are considering filing for bankruptcy. Here’s a free tip: credit card companies, mortgage companies and the US Trustee’s office all employ highly intelligent and extremely motivated attorneys so I strongly recommend you seek your own lawyer to even the playing field. Don’t go it alone! If you’re from outside of the beltway, please click here to find a great lawyer. <–>
